The Main Idea
Recently, I embarked on the challenging journey of starting from scratch as I began building an online membership community. The thrill of creating a space for like-minded individuals to connect and grow was undeniable, but so was the fear. Questions like "What if no one shows up?" and "What if it doesn't work out?" filled my mind. After such a successful book launch, it was humbling to start something from zero again.
But as I took on this endeavor, I discovered that starting from scratch is a universal experience. We all encounter moments when we must begin anew, whether it's moving to a new city, starting a new job, or entering a new relationship. It's crucial to acknowledge our fears but also recognize the potential for growth and fulfillment that lies within these new beginnings. In this process, I've learned that starting anew is an opportunity to redefine ourselves, to let go of past limitations, and to embrace new possibilities. It's a chance to be more mindful and intentional in our actions and decisions, allowing us to shape our lives in alignment with our values and aspirations.

Two Quotes
This week, let's reflect on the courage it takes to start from scratch, drawing inspiration from the words of Spanish poet Antonio Machado, and an Indigenous proverb:
Antonio Machado was a renowned Spanish poet and one of the leading figures of the Spanish literary movement known as the Generation of '98. His introspective and philosophical works often explore themes of existence, love, and the passage of time.
"Walker, there is no path. The path is made by walking."
― Antonio Machado
The Australian Aboriginal people have a rich and diverse cultural history that spans over 50,000 years, with a deep connection to the land, their ancestors, and spirituality. Their wisdom is often conveyed through timeless proverbs that provide guidance and inspiration.
"Those who lose dreaming are lost."
― Australian Aboriginal Proverb
When starting from scratch, it takes courage to confront our fears and embrace the unknown. As you embark on your own new beginnings, remember to forge your own path, keep dreaming, understand that criticism is a natural part of growth and progress, and face challenges head-on in order to enact meaningful change.

What I’m Reading
I've been captivated by "The Fire Next Time" by James Baldwin, which will be the first pick of the book club in our community. This powerful book offers profound insights on race, religion, and the human experience. Baldwin's eloquent prose and incisive observations challenge readers to confront the injustices of the past and present and to strive for a better, more inclusive future. His work serves as a reminder that acknowledging and facing our fears is an essential step toward creating a more just and equitable society.

A Question to Consider
What is one fear you need to face in order to take a leap toward starting something new?
"Fear is only as deep as the mind allows." — Japanese Proverb
Facing our fears and taking that first step is crucial when starting from scratch. By acknowledging and confronting our fears, we can make informed decisions, seize new opportunities, and create a more fulfilling life.
